Kingdom Rush is a browser-based RTS (Reverse-engine Simulator) game that promises to bring back the magic of classic PC games. In early days, Kingdom Rush featured an almost-cinematic presentation. The scenes were so life-like that players actually felt like they were in the scene. The storyline was gripping and even the non-player characters were so well crafted that they felt lifelike as well. However, the magic of Kingdom Rush fades fast into darkness. So, can we still play Kingdom Rush?
Well, Kingdom Rush is not yet finished. Although the game would be remade in the future with new content, Kingdom Rush 2 is already underway. In the current game, gamers are directed to complete tasks by using staircases and other platforms. Those who have been exploring previous maps would also feel right at home. However, the environments are still quite different from the first map.
This is probably because the developers wanted to create a more exciting gameplay. According to producer Matsushita, they would definitely consider making the game more action-packed if the demand for it is still as high as it was before. The first map is still being polished. But what about the rest of the game? Would it still be as exciting as the first one? Would it still follow the story line that has been created so far?
Matsushita shared some hints towards the possible direction of the game. “We could consider making the game more ‘choose your own adventure’ type. Players would have to choose an ending. It could either be good or bad, depending on how you chose to go about it.” He also indicated that more time is needed to polish the game further.
Currently, Kingdom Rush is only available for Windows. However, Nintendo recommends that players should use the most recent version of Internet Explorer for the game’s features to work. It would not work with an older version. However, this is not much of a problem as most people are using Internet Explorer 7, the latest version of Microsoft’s browser and this has already fixed the bugs in the beta version of the game.
Matsushita says the final release of the game would still follow the storyline of Kingdom Rush. The story begins after one of your character’s home gets attacked by an enemy. The player then has to fight his way through the enemies’ castle to reach the main entrance, where he has to defeat the boss before proceeding to the next level.
